Besides teaching Journalism, English Composition, and Creative Writing courses at various colleges, Jake delivers a number of classes and lectures throughout the year at community centers, senior residences, and public libraries. His topics range from Journalistic Ethics to the Poetics of Place to Sacred Gardening to Conscious Travel to Creative Writing to American Literature to World Religions. He is equally at home facilitating talks and classes with children, teens and adults.

Jake has also been a featured guest on a number of regional NPR programs and college radio shows. This provides him with an opportunity to reach tens of thousands of people during his interviews and performances. In addition, he has been a featured speaker at several Earth Day celebrations throughout the United States.
