When we follow our deepest calling, community organically occurs. I trust this because I have experienced this phenomenon time and time again during my work and travels. When a group of people, no matter how small or large in number, come together to consciously engage life and each other in a specific place, that community is capable of creative distillation and spiritual transformation.
This kind of deep holistic togetherness is challenging because most people, in my experience facilitating retreats, have never actually been a part of a transformative group or couple. Thus, many people do not know how to react when they encounter one. I have worked with many individuals and groups of people with how to trust the path that brought them to their place of transformation, so that they can begin to allow the present moment to reveal its wonderful sense of connection to them.
An authentic community will aid in the distillation of self and with the letting go of the posturing ego by being honest with one another. This is a revolutionary act in itself, as the basis of mainstream society is littered with lies and manipulation. Being honest within the present moment is neither good nor bad, neither mean nor nice; it simply is the impetus needed at that time for the community to evolve.
Due to the kind of holistic work that I do, and my penchant for traveling, I have been involved in many such moments of transformation with various communities, organizations, grassroots businesses, families, and individuals. This kind of work requires an ability to perceive the overall situation with a clear, yet detached view, in order to facilitate conscious growth from the experience.
The path of Nomadic Devotion is one where we constantly practice availing ourselves of all the baggage that would prevent this clear unattached view, in order to be of service to the greater community. It is both a spiritual discipline and a revolutionary art to engage honestly and authentically with whatever individual, group or environment that we come into contact with.
